I am a descendant of Jacob Ettinger/Eitenger/Eittinger/Eatinger/Ettenger/Edinger and Mary Ann Braucher. The spelling changes in the record for the family and some branches eventually settle on Eatinger and others on Ettinger.
Parents of Jacob are not firmly established, however, Philip is a leading candidate. But I have yet to uncoverconclusive proof.
Jacob and Mary Ann are in the 1790 US census (the first) and 1800 in Fredrick, MD.They had settled there after the Revolutionary War and had 7-8 children. In 1804-1806 they moved with 7 children to Portage county Ohio and became one of the first settlers there.
My ancestry descends from his son George Eatinger (b. 1801, Frederick MD), his son Levi Jestine Ettinger (b. 1838, Portage, OH).In about 1865 George moved his family to Lagrange county Indiana where my great-great grandmother Ica Dean Ettinger was born in 1875 (Lagrange, IN.My parents lived in her home the first two years of their marriage and the first year of my life. She died age 90, the summer between my junior and senior years in high school.
I have detailed geneology data for all decendants of Jacob but almost none for the Braucher lineage.Very willing to trade info.
I reside in Lansing Michigan.
