Hello
I would like to enquire if you have the exact date of Major Richard Ewen's death. Also his wife Sophia's death date. . She remarried Col William Burgess, but he remarried alsoafter her, according to what I have read in genealogy reports and on the web, ie Maryland Archives and Google books on Md History. Some researchers put his death at 1659, but I have not seen any thing to substantiate that date.

Also if I may ask of you, do you have any information on Richard Owen/Ewen's son Richard Ewen, and when the name changed to be Ewing/Ewings? Seems to be information on the daughters but not on Richard. ( I noticed Mjr. R.Ewen's name has been spelled both ways in records, Owen and Ewen.)
(Of course it is known that the name Ewen and Owen are the same in Wales and Scotland, meaning "Well Born" or after the word Ewe...etc... and that only reflects two ways the name has been spelled. You should see the different spellings of my grandfathers name, Ouen, Ohen, Owain, Owan, Owing,Ouin, and etc...lol. )

In case you are wondering, Because of the confusion of so many Richard Owen records in MD during 1600s ,I am doing a comparison audit on all the Richard Owen/Ewen men in VA and MD in the time period.therefore I am collection any and all info pertinent to every Richard I can find .Already I have found 5 Richard Owen/Ewen men who were in MD at same time.

I am now checking on those with wives and hopefully with the county they resided in every year , plus immigration records. With this info, I am trying to line them up by peerage, occupations, and etc. And if possible, by observation,I can pull out who belongs to who. lol. Huge task, and frustrating, but needs to be done once and for all. Too many guesses and speculations concerning the Richard men by many researchers.

I have 7 Richard Owen/Ewen death dates from 1659 through 1716 at this time. Of which some must still be verified.

I descend, straight line from a Richard Owen/Owings,Carpenter, AA county.paternal side, all proven.
Now to find my Richards origins, with proof. lol.I would appreciate hearing from you and thank you in advance for any information you may feel like sharing. .(If I ever get done with this project or rather when I do, I will post it for all to see all over the web, providing I live that long, daunting task.) . lol.
regards,
geri
