Just some minor corrections to Bunny's post:
William Thomas Ewers b. 1814 Adair County, KY, did not relocate to Illinois until at least 1848, and Malinda (Mathilda) and William Bridgewater did not accompany them. If Hardin accompanied them, he didn't stay long. I got this information from census records: first, William and Malinda Bridgewater are found in the 1850 census in Adair County, KY with 3 of their children and both their mothers (who were sisters-in-law, by they way); second, William and Mary Jane's first two children are listed in the 1850 census in Hancock County, IL as born in Kentucky in 1847 and 1848. There is, however, a James Bridgewater, age 30, assumed wife Nancy, age 25, and assumed daughter Mary, age 5 months, living apparently next to William and Mary Jane in 1850 in Hancock County. This might be the brother or son of William Bridgewater. Finally, Hardin is listed in Livingston County, MO in 1850 with his wife and 3 children.
(Hi, Bunny! I've just found this forum and am going through old messages -- Nancy)
