In my notes, I have Ballard Ewers (b. 1881) was a son of Robert A. (or E.) Ewers and Susan A. Coleman. They were married in Feb. 1876 in Amherst Co.She was a daughter of H.W. and M. Jane Coleman.
This Robert Ewers was a son of Robert Y. Ewers and Martha Jane Smoot.Robert Y. Ewers was a son of Joseph Ewers and first wife, Frances R. Allcock who lived near McIvor's depot just north of present day Monroe.
Joseph's parents were John Ewers and Betsy Moore.John left a will in Amherst Co. 1832.That's as far as I have the Ewers line but Betsy's father was William Moore who lived in Albemarle Co. near Covesville and apparently came there from Person Co. NC and his ancestors probably from NJ before that.
I was raised in Madison Heights on part of a farm previously owned by my mother's grandparents and their brother and sister. Two Ewers brothers had married two Bibb sisters in Nelson Co. and later bought this farm together. These Ewers brothers, James Burton and William Stanford were sons of William I. Ewers who was a brother of your ancestor Robert Y.
This farm adjoined the Mountcastle place and was not too far from the Phelps place where Fannie Ewers, a daughter of Robert Y., lived with her husband John W. Phelps.
I have lots more details but this should help a little.
