I don't know, but I wonder if this may be the family of James P. Ewton. He is found in District 1 of the 1836 Marion County Tax list.No one really knows who James P. Ewton is.Some believe that his middle name is Parker and he was a volunteer in the Cherokee removal of 1838.After that, I have heard that he went west or was killed in the removal.Where they live would be about where he was in 1836.
Most people believe that the parents of Albin Sr., Caswell and the sisters was James Ewton and Rebecca Parker (thus James' middle name).I haven't ever heard this from anyone, but I wonder if James P. was perhaps the older brother of Albin and Caswell.I don't know. What I do know is there was 7 years between James and Rebecca getting married (1800)and Caswell being born (1807).In other words, there was plenty of time there for James and Rebecca to have other children (i.e James P., or perhaps others that they lost).
I would guess that Josiah was the son of Abraham. One other thing to think about is that there is an Abram Ewton in 1830 in Edgefield, SC.He would have been born between 1780 and 1790.The right age to be the grandfather of Abraham born in 1834.I don't think this Abram would be the grandfather, but we can't shrug off anything, as sketchy as Ewton records are.I think the proximaty to the rest of the Ewtons in the Dunlap area is the biggest clue to who they belong. However, it is kind of odd she wouldn't move by the rest of the family if she was widowed.Albin was known for taking care of extended family.
