Re: Jacob Faith/Sally Powell- 1830's-IN/KY?
Betty Ridgeway, I found your information on Fairy Cox (1870-1880 census) and am trying to establish my connection to the Shidler and Cox families. Thru my father and his uncle, Thomas Marion Shidler (listed as Whatdler and Shadler in some census') b. 1898 in White County Ark, I know that Isaac was TM's father.I have not been able to document in census or other that Isaacs first name was Thomas, son of Fairy Cox and Thomas C Shidler, but assumed that he was Isaac.
Was pleased to see "Thomas Isaac" on your posting.I know from 1900 and 1910 Arkansas census and family history that the Cox family raised the Shidler children during those years in White County Arkansas. (Those children that I know of thru family were Mary Elizabeth (my grandmother), Thomas Marion, and half sister Lavina.
I did not know that Benjamin came to arkansas until I read your posting.Would Mamie Shidler born about 1901 have been his daughter. I am trying to find which Shidler had 80 acres in Estate status in 1910-12 in White County Ark near West Point. I am an amateur with limited time, so I will be working on these items that I have recently found. May go to courthouse when I return to Ark. in August.
I would like to connect the Cox family in Arkansas, Francis Edward and Sarah, to the family listed next to Fairy Cox in the 1870 Illinois Census, as I apparently am a Cox decendant.
Thank you for your time, and if I can contribute information that is helpful I will be happy to. My father is 92 with a great memory and I am working to pin down as many facts as I can for him. We attend Osmon Reunions near Crawford County Illinois. Many families in our town of Bald Knob Arkansas came from Lawrenceville and St Francisville Ill. and Washington Indiana area.
