FALCONER, Glasgow/Edinburgh to Sydney/Gulgong

in a nutshell....
James Boyle Falconer born May 13, 1818 in Edinburgh Scotland to Robert Falconer (c1800) and Mary (Bruce) (c1800-1804)
eldest of four sons
Robert
McVey Napier (c1820)
Williams (c1826)
James (along with his fiance and her mother) and Robert emigrated to Australia in 1840 aboard the sailing ship "Dauntless". There is actually a journal kept by James in the Mitchell Library in Sydney (I plan to make this available digitally soon). James and Catherine Milligan married at Scots Church in Melbourne two weeks after arriving aboard the ship. They had 11 children
Robert (Nov 29 1841), James Bogel (Feb 18 1844), Elizabeth Mary (May 17 1846), Catherine (1847-1849), William Charles (Oct 27 1850), McVey Stuart (1851-1854), Job Levers (Jan 5 1855), MacVie Napier (Jan 20 1858), Catherine Helen (1858-1861), Catherine Charlotte (Apr 16 1862) and Arthur (Apr 21 1864). As a point of interest, Job Lever's wife (Susannah Gertrude Albury - known as Gertrude) had a Sister (Louisa) who had a famous son (Henry Lawson). Job and his wife are referred to in several of Henry Lawson's works. References to Joe Wilson, for example, refer to his uncle Job Levers Falconer (see book Henry Lawson Letter 1890-1922 edited by Colin Roderick). Other works include "The Drover's Wife", "A Double Buggy at Laheys Creek", "A Hero in Dingo Scrubs".
McVey emigrated in 1855 aboard the sailing ship "Lord Burleigh". McVey was the first station master at Homebush Railway Station when the trains only ran to Parramatta. And, Yes, he was indeed the station master at Newtown when James was killed in the collision between a goods train and a passenger train on January 6 1868.
McVey actually married Margaret Hardie in West Church Edinburgh on December 31, 1846. Six months after he was discharged from the Light Company 92nd Highlanders which served in Belfast, Ireland. They had 10 Children, Margaret (Dec 20 1847), Robina (1849), James Napier (Nov 1851), William Stuart (1854-1855), MacVey Napier (May 2 1856), Charlotte ( June 23 1858), Robert Bruce (Jan 30 1861), Gustavus Adolphus Kopsch (Nov 26 1862), Mary (Nov 5 1864) and Grace (Oct 28 2868)
Robert is assumed to have died in Melbourne between August 1846 and January 1848, no wife or family are known of.
William, it appears, staying in Scotland. Married Elizabeth Ronaldson in 1855. They had two children, Jane (Oct 14, 1864) and William Dugvid (Dec 4 1866).
As I said, this is just a taste of what I have, my father (Ken) worked on this for years. Several years ago he made his records available to the Gulgong Museum, perhaps they are still in possession of this. For memory it was a full copy of all that he had compiled at the time, but I'll have to check with him for verification on that.
