As there exists no real proof yet of the connection of WILLIAM FANT to the Fants of Ireland, you can only start with him, b. abt. 1699 in VA, md. 1737 in Stafford Co. VA to Catherine Stewart, b. abt 1720d. abt 1750 VA...their son SAMUEL FANT, b. 16 Aug 1741 Stafford Co. VAd. Bef. Mar 1822 in Union Co. SC, md to Margaret "Peggy" ----- b. 1745 VA d. aft. 1822 in Union Co. SC....their son ABNER FANT b. 1776 in Stafford Co. VA, d 1 Nov 1854 in Anderson Co. SC who was md. to Jane P.-----b, 1780 in Fairfield District, SC and died before 1827 presumably in Fairfield Dist....their son EPHRAIM FANT, b. 2 Nov 1797 in same district, md. abt 1817 in same, d. 7 Jun 1851 in Fairfield Co. SC , md. Sara Jane Edrington b. 15 Aug 1796 in Fairfield Dist. and d. 8 Jan 1894 in Fairfield Co. SC...their son ABNER D. FANT, b. 21 Aug 1818 presumably in Fairfield Dist... d. 9 Apr 1841 in Abbeville Co. SC md to Susan Rosamond Crocker b. 17 May 1819 in York Co. SCd. 19 Mar 1904 in Texas...their son REV. EPHRAIM ABNER FANT, b. 4 Jan 1841 in SC and d. 20 Sep 1893 in Choctaw Co. MSmd. in 1865 Choctaw Co. MS to Sara Jane Mullens, b. 12 Jan 1845 Choctaw Co and d. 22 Apr 1925Choctaw Co. MS I believe you can take it from there. GEORGE FANT was Samuel's brother, but he NEVER came to South Carolina and instead died in Stafford Co. VA in 1818...he has been confused with GEORGE FAN(Fent, Fann) who died in Coles Co. IL in 1838, with more than ample documentation to prove the men were different people. Mr. Alfred Fant who did not have access to all the data I have accumulated made this mistake and it has been perpetuated for many years.... Hope this helps.
