Good Morning Bonnie -
After doing some very elementary research for the parentage of your David F. Farley, it is quite plain to see, a few complications arise in the process.
Mississippi has required birth and death records since 1912, copies of which are available to "Descendants" from:
Bureau of Vital Statistics
State Board of Health
Jackson, Mississippi
If one is lucky the "Parentage of the Deceased" will be included upon the document.
Then too, a copy of the June 1866 Marriage Certificate from Bibb Co., AL., may well contain Farley Family Information. If nothing else, a Bondsman, which may show a family relationship.
Bibb Co., AL Farley Family Marriage Records, On-Line:
William E. Farley m Commelly Breene {Greene?} 18th July 1841
Lewis Farley m Pheby E. Oglesberry, 7th May 1860
Lineage Societies do not consider Census Records as primary information.Therefor one needs at least 3 consecutive US Federal Census Records in research.
1900 Webster Co., MS Federal Census:
David F. Farley - b 1836 - Age 64 - b Alabama - Father b South Carolina - Mother b South Carolina
1880 Lowndes Co., MS Federal Census:
David Farley - Aged 45 - b Alabama - Father b Alabama - Mother b South Carolina
The 1860 Bibb Co., Alabama Federal Census is interesting.
East Side of the Cahaba River, pg 193 - Taken 9th July
Hiram Bates - Age 64 - b Georgia
-----------
Martha Bates - Age 15 - b Alabama
West Side of the Cahaba River, pg 40 - Taken 6th July
Rachel Farley - Age 44 - b South Carolina
-------------
Lewis Farley - Age 19 - b Alabama
David Farley - Age 13 - b Alabama
