Some counties have had fires, disasters, etc. and the actual documents are lost,etc. I would love to have actual documents for all I wish to prove but sometimes that isn't possible. There is a place for a perponderance of evidence when that is all that is available due to circumstances. A great deal of the Civil War was fought in Virginia with terrible results to courthouses and records. I wish for you better luck than I have had in some instances.
