Thanks for the info - it adds the 1910 and 1930 census records to what I have. I have not found death records for either as well. Eugene was married first to a Maud E. Parkins (1875-25 Mar 1900). I found her death cert which lists W.E. as her husband. In the 1920 census, Eugene is listed as a railroad engineer. In "History of Summers County from the Earliest Settlement to the Present Time", it states "Captain William McClandish, the first foreman at the round house [C&O], a prominent and gentlemanly citizen and one of the first settlers of Hinton after the railroad was built, died in 1800. He was the father of locomotive engineer, Eugene McClandish, the largest resident of Hinton at this date, weighing 350 pounds. He is a jolly, sensuble gentleman." So I do believe "McClandish" was the correct spelling and the census takers butchered it. Thanks again. j
