Thanks for your answer. I'm beginning to conlude that there was more than one Faunce family in Ontario County in that period and that possibly we are dealing with New England Faunces, on the one hand and German origin Faunces on the other.

You would not find Faunce Taylor easily in the Ontario Archives. He was witness to an 1805 deed among members of the family of Capt. Joseph Taylor of Bristol. He may have been a son of the latter.

When your cousin comes back, I hope you show him this exchange and that we can come back into contact if he thinks there is anything interesting to be pursued.
