Henry Faus / Elizabeth Kepler
Is there anyone out there looking for the parents of Henry Faus, born in 1777 and his wife Elizabeth Kepler?
My first question is: Who was the first Faus immigrant to America? Here is what I have found so far:
Johannes Faas - Sept 11 1732 (also spelled Fause)
Johann Goerg Faas 1738
Johann Philib Faas 1738 - on the same boat as Johann Goerg
Christian Faas 1750
Martin Fauss 1753
Adam Faus 1754
Jacob Faus 1765
Was Henry the son of one of these Fauses? Where were they for the 1790 census? Here are some possibilities in Pennsylvania:
Jacob Faus in Manchester, York Co.
George Foos in Amity
Jacob Fose in Caernervan
Henry Fees in Ruscomb
Henry Fiss in Northern Liberties
The first three couldbe from the original immigrants.
If Henry Faus was the father of Thomas, born in Whitehall is 1803, why is there no Faus in Whitehall in the 1800 census?
Also missing is a Kepler. Elizabeth Kepler is listed as being born in Whitehall in 1781. Could she be the Elisabetha Kepler, daughter of Andrew and Margaretha, born Aug 24, 1784 and baptised Oct 31 at the Lutheran Church in New Hanover, Montgomery County PA (about thirty miles south of Whitehall) ?
And then could Andrew and Margaretha be the Andrew Kepler who married Margaretha Braun in 1771 in Bucks County?
In the 1800 census there is an Andrew Kepler in York, PA, where there are also three Fahs families: Henry, Jacob and Joseph.
I am not able to tie any of the above to the Faus family tree. By the way, I am a great-great grandson of Thomas W. Faus. His daughter Rachel married my great-grandfather John Beishline. Faus genealogist Sister Mary Euphrasia is misktaken in saying that they had no children, not knowing about my grandmother Florence Beishline and her brothers Leonard Franklin Beishline and Charles Clearfield Beishline.
