I am trying to figure out just how many children Moses & Eunice (WEST)FAY had.
In the 1860 Waseca County, MN census, they have three daughters enumerated - Melvina, aged 4, Ida, aged 2, and Nelly, aged 1.
In the 1865 MN State Census, they are listed with four children (no ages in this census) - Melvina, Nellie, Alvah, and Estella......no Ida.
The 1870 census (still in Waseca County), the children are still enumerated as Melvina, Nellie, Alvah, Stella, Cynthia, and John - no Ida again.
In 1880, Eunice is with her daughter, Lydia (missing from the 1865 and 1870 censuses), and she has three children with her - Alvah, Martha, and Clarence. John is with his grandparents. There's no sign of Cynthia, Nellie, or Melvina.
Where was Lydia in 1865 and 1870? Could Nellie or Ida have been Lydia, and the first Lydia died as a child?
