Story has it that One of her Uncles after her father was murdered changed his name and convinced her at a very young age to run a way to Mississippi with Him. The Statement that She told you and you Mom Is Correct. Now to the Surname In Our Home Country of Germany we come from a town called Rheinpfalz. Johan Wendel Vetter ( Pronounced in German as Fetter", with a F) He Left Rotterdam on Sept.03,1742.He was 29 . on a ship Named " Loyal Judith" Out of Rotterdam. He Changer the Spelling before arriving to Philadelphia to Fetter know that the Americans would not be able to pronounce Vetter the proper way.
The name changed two more times after that for our family line. William Henry and Nancy two of the children of Jacob and Catherine Fetter went by Feathers. William moved to Atlanta in during the war between the States. He married Sarah Bennett in 1868.
