Re: Feltenbergers of Jefferson & Harrison Co. Ohio
I'm not saying Philip Carroll & Philip Olinger are the same person, just considering all the possibilities. One thing that would cancel that is that Philip Carroll & Mariah Feltenberger are thought to have had a son named Philip.Philip Olinger did not. On Ancestry.com there is a chart that says Philip Carroll who married Mariah Feltenberger married late in life a 2nd time in Quebec, Canada. That chart is messed up with children born before parents, so don't know if that might be the case.According to info that I have Michael Feltenberger born 1756-58 came to the Harrison & Jefferson Co. Ohio area sometime around 1800.He had 5 sons. His oldest son John was born between 1781-83, so it's likely all 5 sons came. However, the only one I can find any info on is Jacob who was the father of the Mariah who married Philip Carroll. It is possible one of the other sons of Michael Feltenberger also named a daughter Mariah, and she married Philip C. Olinger. Both Mariahs married at the same time, both to a Philip. None of the other Feltenberger sons ever shows up in any census that I can find. Henry Carroll, son of the Philip Carroll who died in the War of 1812, & Phillip C. Olinger were closely connected most, if not all, of their lives. They lived next door to each other, moved together from Ohio to Indiana, & were even buried next to each other.Henry & family made frequent trips to Iowa to visit Phillip's children. I would call that a connection.
