Re: Family name: Fenoglio,
I just read your posting on Genealogy.com's Fenoglio Family Forum.
My great grandfather, Giovanni Battista Fenoglio, was born in 1850 in Prascorsano, Italy--which is just north of Turin.Turin is the largest city around, so sometimes people might have said they were from "Turin" when they were really from smaller towns surrounding Turin.
Giovanni Battista Fenoglio (or just "Battista" as he often went by), came to the USA in 1903.His children (mostly grown) and wife came too, in different intervals.(all were here by 1914)Only one stayed in Italy and never came here--his eldest daughter, Elena who had already married in Italy.
I do not know Battista Fenoglio's siblings names (nor parents names). But Fenoglio is NOT a common name. Most were from that region around Turin (or Turino, in Italian).Likely, most came from the same general family tree at some point.
I am wondering when your Maria Fenoglio was born.It seems like she would have been born somewhere around that same time frame.I am wondering if they were siblings or cousins or something.
I was hoping you have some more details that could guide us a bit.
**My great grandfather moved to Castellamonte (just north of Turin also) at least in time to have his children there. They were farmers. But when they came to the USA they became miners at first (easy work) in Missouri and Kansas.Battista died in Mulberry, Kansas.
