Re: Ferderer family from Russia
My great grandparents were also Valentine and Elizabeth Ferderer.Nick Ferderer is my Grandfather. My Dad is George.... so I guess this makes us cousins!
Here is some information I have on Valentine and Elizabeth. I am also interested in any additional information. My daughter, Taylor,is very interested in our family heritage.
Valantine Ferderer (1861-1933). Wife Elizabeth Baron (1859-1940) came from Karlsruhe Odessa, Russia in 1907 and settled on land bought from Joe Gress for $12.00 an acre northeast of New Salem, the homestead and adjoining 80 acres where they had built a stone dwelling. One brother, Henry, also came to this country.Mike and Eluis stayed in Russia as well as 2 sisters, one sister settled in Canada.
Elizabeth, his wife, had 2 brothers; Gabe and Ludwig and one sister, Francis.Ludwig and Francis both settled in Canada.Gabe, who came over in 1910, saw his sister who was a very small woman picking up rocks and hauling them off the land remarked that she was working harder than the prisoners work that are locked up in Russia. It is because these settlers were so willing to work so hard is why this country grew the way it did under the free enterprise system.Gabe farmed a few years north of Judson and then moved to Mandan.
Mr. and Mrs. Ferderer had the following children- Nick, Emil, Ralph, John and Jack; daughters were Frances (Mrs. Sabastion Emineth), Logadia (Mrs. Gabe Hoffman), and Gertrude (Mrs. Ralph Gratz).
