Re: John Ferrell - Georgia & Alabama
I read your e-mail and really got excited.I have been researching this line for about 13 years, and I cannot get them out of GA.My ggrandfather, James Monroe FERRELL/FARRELL was born abt. 1843 in GA, his father Thomas FERRELL was supposedly born in SC.Shell Oil Co. had a genealogist do extensive research on the family about 25 years ago, and the genealogist said that he (James) was born in Ireland, specifically Wicklow Co.I have talked to others who said not to trust this (I do not have hard copy of the report, only hearsay), as genealogists that far back may not have really done the research.
These are the facts I have:
My mother is Gladys FARRELL born 1913 in San Angelo, TX; her father was William Robert FARRELL, born 1871 in Elmore Co.(changed from Tallapoosa Co. in 1868); his father was James Monroe FARRELL/FERRELL born in GA abt. 1843, m. Mary Jane BAKER, 1869-1870;(his siblings were W.T. (probably William Thomas, Martha, and Rebecca all born in GA except Rebecca); his father was Thomas FERRELL born abt. 1800-1813 in SC (according to census records), died 1875 in Elmore Co.I cannot remember if I have records for John or not, but I will look.My FERRELL's moved to Tallapoosa Co. before 1860.
I was in GA last month and looked for them, but the only Thomas I found that might fit was in Putnam, Lee or Sumter counties.
Please let me know what kind of info. you have.I would love to find these people.I will also check my records and see if I have anything on John.
I look forward to hearing from you.
