Declaration for Invalid Pension was filed in Union Co IL 4 Sep 1890 by John Ferrill, age 59, of Cobden IL, before J. F. F. Wallace, notary public, and witnessed by Jon. H. Evett and M. C. Sculley of Cobden.
John stated he enrolled on 26 Aug 1862 in Co E, 81st IL Vol Inf, and was discharged at Vicksburg MS 5 Aug 1865.
Widow's declaration filed in Union Co IL on 19 Jul 1894 by Cynthia L. Ferrill, age 66, of Cobden IL.She stated she was married under the name Cynthia L. Clutts to John Ferrill on 3 Mar 1859 by Abner Keith (J. P.) near Cobden, and that John died near Cobden on 19 Jun 1904.Declaration was made before James T. Stafford, notary public, and witnessed by Martha J. Spring and Mrs. M. Lesley, both of Cobden.
Pension questionnaire filled out and signed by John Ferrill at Cobden on 4 Jul 1894 gives marriage info as above and states that he had no living children.
J. B. B. Broadway, age 50, made affidavit 2 Aug 1904 in Union County stating that he was an undertaker at Cobden, that he was called on 19 Jun 1904 to the residence of the late John Ferrill and prepared his body for burial, and that the remains were laid to rest in the Toledo Cemetery on 20 June 1904.
Cobden postmaster notified the Pension Bureau that Cynthia L. Ferrill died 3 Sep 1919.
