Barbara...
Thanks for your reply. I think there are enough similarities that your GWF and mine could be one in the same. Your GWF and Sara Ann Sturdevan Sayre would be about the same age. Sara's husband John Wesley Sayre (my GG Grandfather) was born 1823 and died 1855 in Hadley, NY. Sara went to live with a George W. Ferrell & family after seeing that her three children were taken in by others. She could not afford to house and feed them. One of the children, Ezra Sayre (my G Grandfather), went to Shelbyville, MO to be raised by his Grandfather, Rev. Ezra Sayre (my GGG Grandfather). The Rev. Ezra and Sara exchanged letters (I have these) and several were addressed to Sara in care of GWF of Glens Falls. Glens Falls and Hadly are not that far apart. That GWF was a member of the clergy was an assumption on my part.
Sara Ann and John Wesley are buried in the Corinth Rural Cem., Corinth, NY. She died in 1911 and was over 100 years old. My Dad was born in 1907 and could just remember her.
I am in the midst of a move and all my genealogical documents are in storage. I will follow-up with this a bit more and will be in touch in a month or two. Many thanks for your reply.
