* My connection to the Neel(e)y family
@ I have found decendants of this person and are in contact with them.
David and Jane lived in Pennsylvania in Westmoreland County and Mercer County that we can find.David was listed on the censuses that I could find as coming from Ireland. We haven't found anything on ship passenger logs yet, but we're still looking.Robert was the first to move to Platteville, Wisconsin in abt 1847/8. He homesteaded and then built a cabin and sent for his father, mother and siblings. We don't know if Lucinda (my ggggrandmother) was married before coming to Wisconsin or after. She died in or shortly after childbirth and her husband, William Gillis, left the children with Lucinda's family to raise and left for the gold fields of California. He ran a pack train from Stockton to Hangtown and sent money home to the family. We don't know what happened to him.Albert, served in the 3rd Volunteer Wisconsin Infantry in the Civil War and later was a Deputy sheriff in Phillipsburg, Montana.
He lived his later years in Sawtelle Veterans Home in Los Angeles, California.
Samuel lived in Platteville and surrounding towns until about 1870 and moved to Nebraska and then Wyoming, where he died and is buried.I have found many decendants of Samuel and Anna.None so far from Robert or Jane. Still looking though.
I only started on this side of the family 4 months ago and have found loads of info.If you have anything else, I would be most grateful. If any Neely cousins read this, please email me directly at email@example.com.
Keep up the good work.
