In the magazine "NATCHEZ TRACE TRAVELER" Vol.16, No. 1 & 2, 1996, page 45, there is an article called "Shoal Creek Baptist Association" contributed by Edgar D. Byler, Richard C. Sheridan, Ruby Stone, David Gregg.It says it was constituted in 1825.The Shoal Creek Baptist Assn. convened at Turkey Creek meeting house in HARDIN Co. TN on Saturday preceding the third Lords day in sept. 1829...... Letters were read from 28 churches and their messengers names enrolled.The Sugar Creek Church, Lauderdale Co AL delegates were Wm PHILGO ( Filgo ) and Benjamin LANCASTER. The name Benjamin Lancaster was crossed out as it appears he was the delegate from Center Church in Hickman Co, TN. In the 1831 listing it said Sugar Creek Church, Limestone Co AL and said delegates were Edmund STRANGE and Wm. LEGG. It later said delegate was James SHELTON. Edmund Strange and Wm Legg were security for William Filgo on Feb. 28, 1831 when he was appointed guardian for Edwin Rainbolt, infant son of Joseph Rainbolt, dec'd, in Limestone Co., AL.
