William Fisher Sr. (24 Jan 1770 - 30 Jun 1861) was the son of Jeremiah Fisher (ca. 1738-1813) and Annah Ellis (m. 15 Oct 1761). Jeremiah Fisher was born to Elizabeth Brown, Jr. in the Cumberland area of Massachusetts (later Rhode Island (inter alia see the 1790 Rhode Island census). His father is not known. Jeremiah and his sons James & William Sr. were among the earliest settlers of Lyndon (ca. 1792). William Sr. is believed to have been married twice, with Jerusha Hubbard the second wife. Welcome Fisher (born 1816) was married thrice (first Adaline ––––, children Adalade, George, Lucy, Olive, Franklin and Henry; second Mary E. Ellis (m. 12 Oct 1870); third Melissa Welles (30 Jul 1873). My last record of the Welcome Fisher family is the 1860 Vermont census (Family #112, W. Charleston, Orleans County). If you are interested I will gladly share my additional information on this branch of the Fisher family, that has been researched on my behalf by the extraordinary Vermont researcher Alice Eichholz. Please also see my earlier posting on this page, as well as those of Deborah Hutchins (also a descendent of William Fisher Sr.
