I would like to communicate with anyone having information on, or researching the family of Joseph Fisk(e), specifically the identification of his children. He is listed in the 1790, 1800, and 1810 census for the Hamden/Delhi area in Delaware County, New York. He is buried in the Hamden Village Cemetery (Frisbee Cem.), across the river from Hamden Village. His grave inscription reads:"Capt Joseph Fisk, Dec 29, 1843, 2nd, 4th NY Mil Rev War." The DAR lookup indicates that he was a Rev. War soldier and that he was married to a Lois Knight. Although there is no indication of specifically where he came from, his war service was with units in the New York Continental Line. Another clue is that there were a number of Fisk/Knight marriages in the Rhode Island/Connecticut area. I believe there is a connection between these families.
From the History of Delaware County; "As soon as peace was declared between this and the mother country in 1783, Joseph Fisk came to Harpersfield, in 1784 to Bloomville, and in 1787, he came here and settled on the farm now owned by George Kelly." Joseph Fisk was assessed by the town of Delhi in 1798 for a 13x27 log house on 200 acres on Verplanks Great Flat. In 1799, Joseph Fisk paid 54 cents for state taxes at the town of Delhi.
