Thanks, for your interest. If you have a problem following this let me know.We currently have two that connect to Tandy in Georgia and my family is one. If there are ladies that are interested they would use mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA).I will be looking into starting a project for the ladies in the near furture.
go to www.familytreedna.com
in the "search box" on right type in Fitts
On next page click on the Fitts Family DNA
Scroll down to the kit order part, fill it in - you will have to use your credit card
The total will be $101 for each kit.
A kit will be sent to you with directions.
We are using the Y-DNA12
When the results come in, you'll get an e-mail that should give you the 12 marker numbers - You'll get paperwork and certificate in the mail with the numbers. When those come in, we'll compare the marker numbers to others. With are using only 12 markers, for a marker match of 11 out of 12 or 12 for 12 this would be a family match and would go back 100 to 400 years. If the match is 10 out of 12 or less than 10, then the relationship is BACK before the colonies!
An example of a test, a our group has two with a match of 11 out 12 markers. There is an exact match in another group who's family is in Kentucky. The first two have a connection back to Tandy W. Fitts of Georgia. As of yet we haven't been given the connection with the family in Kentucky. We have one family that connects with the New England Fitts family, one with Henry Fitts family of Warren County, North Carolina and one with the Reuben Fitts family of Bibb County, Alabama.
We want to test males with the surname Fitts for direct line, ladies to come. I will take the marker numbersto compare them against others and distribute among those who do the test.I will need your family line starting with the grandfather and please take it back as far as you can.If you do the test, please email me the family line. The following is my line with markers:
