More details later.
Searching for The Fitzpatrick
Do you think you are The Fitzpatrick, or more correctly, An Giolla Phádraig, Chief of the Name? The search continues, and if you think you are The Fitzpatrick (or you know who is) then you are invited to prepare a pedigree of your descent from Brian MacGillapatrick (who died 1511 AD.) and a genealogical chart illustrating your pedigree. The Fitzpatrick - Mac Giolla Phádraig - ClanSociety, its agents and supporters regret that they are unable to reimburse any costs or other expenditure whatsoever in connection with these invitations.Submission of a pedigree and chart does not bestow any Title, Honour or Dignity to the claimants.
The Fitzpatrick DNA Study
The Fitzpatrick DNA study is one of the oldest surname studies. Founded in 2000, the study now includes 170 participants from all over the world. By studying the DNA on the Y-chromosome, the study has shown that the Fitzpatrick Clan is genetically diverse, indicating an interesting and complicated clan history, with family groups originating from the four corners and the centre of Ireland, from Co. Laois, Co. Cork, Co. Down, Co. Clare, and Co. Cavan, plus several smaller groups of unknown origins. Our DNA results together with written documentation, confirm that the Fitzpatricks from Co. Laois descend from the House of Ossory, the powerful 16th century landowners. Now well established as a major Irish Family DNA project, the study will again use the opportunity presented by the 2013 gathering for a further push towards recruiting new participants especially from Ireland. So, submission of Irish TREES at the gathering (or in advance) will be welcome.
For more information, please contact one of our DNA study administrators. In the US, contact Colleen [email protected] or Peggy Fitzpatrick [email protected]; in Ireland or the UK, contact Ronan Fitzpatrick [email protected]
