Re: William Fitzwater married Ann McCaslin - Virginia
Unable to reply to you, I contacted DAR twice for the name of McCaslin in their files. You gave me a pension number for Andrew McCaslin of 55751, but DAR has no record of this.Their reply gave Pvt. Andrew McCausland born about 1750 IRELAND, service in MA died about 1792 in MA (wife Kezia Berry) and Pvt. Andrew McCausland born 1758 ST , service in PA (not VA)(wife Christina Brown) died 8 Jul 1830.No pensions were issued.Neither are the Andrew McCaslin in Augusta Co., VA records in the early 1770's prior to the Rev. War.
I am seeking information to identify the parents of Ann McCaslin married William Fitzwater (probably about 1762 - after the death of his father Thomas in Whitpain, PA about Sep. 1761) and her siblings that might be John McCaslin and Andrew McCaslin located in court records in Augusta Co., VA prior to the Rev. War. also Augusta Co., VA Order Book #14, May 23, 1771, p. 223 states John McCaslin was administrator of William Fitzgerald (deceased - prior to June 1767 - Book #9)
DAR gave me a John McCausland, born PA 1 Jun 1750, ENS served in PA/VA who did receive a penion, wife Jane. Also, William McCausland born 1760 VA, pvt. died TN 1821, wife Nancy Jane - no pension issued. Is this John McCausland the John McCaslin in the Augusta Co., Record Book?
I have located McCausland families in Lancaster Co., PA and Bedford Co., PAA search of court records, and wills reveal none of these families are related to either John McCaslin, Andrew McCaslin or Ann McCaslin wife of William Fitzwater.I have also located some records of McCaslin in Philadelphia Co. (Montgomery Co.) PA
Although early records often spelled surnames phonetically there is every indication the McCausland and McCaslin families came to America from different European countries.Any information on my Ann McCaslin family would be greatly appreciated.
