Hello Mary,
The following is from Edith Flanders Dunbar's book The Flanders Family From Europe to America:
"Judith b. 4 Feb 1711/12: m. (int. 21 Sept 1728) 22 October 1728, at Amesbury to Samuel Hadley, 3rd of Amesbury; b. 5 May 1705 at Amesbury, son of Samuel Hadley and Dorothy Colby.Judith's birth is given, "Juda, dau. of Daniel & Sarah Flandres" Dunbar cites town records of Amesbury for Judith's birth and Hoyt's Old Families of Salisbury and Amesbury for the marriage and Samuel's birth and parentage.
Judith's descent from Stephen Flanders (d. 27 June 1684 at Salisbury) and Jane ____ (d. 19 Nov 1683 also at Salisbury) is as follows:
Steven, oldest son of Steven and Jane, (8 Mar 1650 or 3 Aug 1647 -bef 29 May 1689) and Abigail Carter (Nov 1652-aft 1747), d/o Thomas Carter and Mary ____.Steven and Abigail were married 28 Dec. 1670 at Salisbury.
Daniel, fourth son of Steven and Abigail, (16 Mar 1674/5- bef 1 April 1735) and Sarah Jane Colby, d/o Sgt. John Colby and Sarah Osgood (? - aft 1720 & bef Oct.1724) m. 1 May 1700.Daniel's second wife was Dorothy Worthen Hoyt.
Hope this helps. If you don't have access to the Dunbar book, send me your address and I will see that you get the relevant pages.
Daniel Flanders is my 6th great grandfather.I also have followed but not confirmed or proved Colby and Carter lines back some generations, if you are interested.
Marnie
Note change of e-mail address. We just got a DSL line.
