Wife of First Physician
Mrs. Harvey Bassett Sr. passed away at Hospital IL. at 11 o'clock Saturday night. Her death resulting from a general collapse due to her advanced age.
Mrs. Euretta Flanders Bassett was born in Jay-Essex county NY August 22,1821. She was reared and educated in her native state and taught school there until her marriage to Dr. Harvey J. Bassett of Vermont, the wedding occuring in 1856. Shortly afterward they came to Tuscola to reside. He was the first physician to locate here and was long recognized as the leading physicain of the town, and both of them, owing to their education and refinement, wereprominent socially.
Mrs. Bassett leaves three children. Harvey and Frank of this city and Mrs. Carrie Moon of Seattle, Washington. She has four brothers who reside in the east.

Euretta was my GGGrandmother and the daughter of Chapin Flanders. Euretta spent the last 17 years of her life at the state hosp. in Kankakee IL. Her Dau. Carrie was also declared insane and lived the last 2 years of her life in the same hosp.

My questions:
Any one else searching this line of Chapin's?
What are the names of her mother and Siblings?
And does any one else have insanity in the Flander line?
I have some pictures of Euretta and some info on her life in IL. My sister still lives in the house she and Dr. Bassett built for their Dau. Carrie and her husband to live in next door to them in Tuscola, IL.
