Please note that I do routinely monitor the Fleece site but found this connection and it is the first time I've seen a Fleece - Mattingly connection and thought it might be of interest to someone.
Mary Eliza Mattingly 3-7-1864, dau of Henry Thomas Vinson Mattingly and Mary Ann Leake: Baptized Mary Eliza Mattingly, 5-20-1864, by Rev. Joseph Elder at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Marion County, Kentucky. Birth date, 3-07-1864. Sponsor, Ann E. Anderson. Parents, Henry Mattingly & Mary A. Leak.
The 1910 census of Louisville shows Mary and her husband with five children. She is found on the 1920 census of Louisville, Kentucky with her husband and two children. The daughter named Catherine L. in 1910 is now named Margaret.
Her death certificate #11708, shows her as Mary E. Fleece, widow. Phil Fleece was informant but did not know her mothers name. She was buried in the Calvary Cemetery on 5-15-1942.
John Logan Fleece 6-23-1853, son of William Fleece and Mary Van Cleave: Death certificate #16652, shows cause of death as cerebral hemorrhage and pneumonia. Catherine Fleece was informant and he was buried in the Calvary Cemetery on 6-8-1936.
Children known were: Charles Phillip 3-13-1897 and Catherine/Margaret L. c 1906.
