Flemming: W. Oscar, Luther, James, Clarence, Cora, Essie Lee + Stokes - Virginia
Hello! I am looking for any further info on this batch of people - especially decendants beyond 1920 or so.
All were born in or near Princess Anne, (Virginia Beach today) Virginia Portsmouth, Virginia and Norfolk, Virginia.
William Stokes b. 1819 married Sarah -----. their children were George W. Stokes b. 1837, Ann Rebecca Stokes b. 1846 d. 1912, Mary E. Stokes b. 1850 d. 1864, William J. Stokes b. 1855.
Ann Rebecca Stokes married James C. Flemming b. 1846 d. 1899. Their children were W. Oscar Flemming b. 1869, Luther V. Flemming b. 1871 d. 1949, James Flemming b. 1875, Clarance Flemming b. 1880, Cora Flemming b. 1882, and Essie Lee Flemming b. 1889 d. 1919.
According to the 1910 Census, Ann Rebecca (Stokes) Flemming lived with Luther, Clarence, and Cora - PLUS a 7 year old named either Adel, Adele, Rosa Adele, or Adell Flemming. Luther was listed as the head of household and Adel was listed as being the niece of the head of household. Probability says that she was the child of Clarence or Cora but no helpful signs of a marriage for either of them.
Later on, according to the 1930 Census, Luther lived with William Stokes (b. 1855, child of William Stokes b. 1819.) in Norfolk, Virginia.
