So, seeing that Eli Fletcher and wife Agnes Johnson are in Russell Co., VA at the same time, here is a family work-up of James Fletcher and Eli Fletcher's father, William Fletcher and his brief stay in Russell County:
Ancestors of Glenna Jean Cordill
124. William Fletcher, born 1766. He was the son of 248. Joseph Fletcher and 249. Martha Milam. He married 125. Mary Jane Milam January 29, 1791 in Montgomery Co, Va.
125. Mary Jane Milam, born 1768; died 1850 in Tazewell Co, Va. She was the daughter of 250. William Boyd Milam and 251. Martha Randolph.
Notes for William Fletcher:
INDEX

page
268. William Fletcher married Mary Milam on 29 Jan 1791 in Montgomery Co,
VA.
"Mrs.A.M. Thomas, 701 West Lobit St., Baytown, Texas 77520, has provided a
letter which is very enlightening on one branch of these Davis families. The
letter was addressed to W. M. Milam, Esq.(Mrs. Thomas' uncle whose full name
was William Milam, and who was born at Cedar Bayou, Harris Co, TX, served
in the Spanish American War, and lived in Richmond, VA and in NY); and was
from William B. Davis of Blackwater, TN. It was written in response to a
letter which was written by Mr. Milam inquiring about information on the
ancestors and relatives of W. B. Davis-as he had heard he was related to the
Milams.""February 28, 1902, Dear Sir: Yours of the 17th Inst. was received
several days ago and I have delayed reply in order to think of the facts
that I wanted to write. I am a great grandson of William Milam, son of
Archibald. William had two sons that I know of, and perhaps three. I know of
William and Lewis, but I know nothing of William's family-if he ever had
any. I have always been told he went to TX. Lewis married in VA and finally
moved to TN about 1816...The oldest daughter (of my great grandfather,
William Milam) was Mary who married William Fletcher and from that union had
seven sons to wit: James, Rolen, Elias, Danie(?), Joseph, William, and
Aaron. James married a Cridmore (sic? Pridemore?) and moved to IN. Elias
married a McKinney and moved to KY. (Note from G.Tolliday...If Elias married a McKinney and Moved to KY, we wouldn't likely be here. The only record of marriage I can find is to Agatha Johnson, mother of Elizabeth Fletcher.)Danie(?) and Joseph I know little more
than Joseph was a sporting man attending the races and loving fast horses.
William married a Miss Church and went to IN where he died about 1847. Aaron
married a Miss Jarvis and finally went to Alabama...""."
