Jean Baptiste FLEURY, died Dublin (Sackville Street) 12 Oct 1838; formerly a hairdresser and perfumer in Paris; lived at 5 Eden Quay and at time of death 1 Sackville Street, Dublin. Widow Mariette. One known child, Elizabeth Eugenie, born about 1835 Co Dublin (1911 census); 1866 married Henry PONTET in Rathmines RC church.
Seek any information regarding: (1) anything further on Jean-Baptiste FLEURY himself (2) anything about his wife, Mariette - including what became of her after J-B's death.
Daughter Elizabeth Eugenie has strong link with MARANI family, viz Augustus Caesar MARANI born c1815 Modena, Italy, professor of languages at TCD and Consular of Italy in Dublin in period 1840s through to 1860s, and his wife Maria Victoria (born c1807; died 1888 aged 81). Alicia Teresa MARANI (born Dublin c1845 daughter of Augustus & Maria MARANI), was a witness at Elizabeth FLEURY & Henry PONTET's wedding; 1880 Elizabeth present & declarant of birth of Marie Eugenie McWADE, daughter of George McWADE & wife Letilia Georgina Eleanore MARANI (born Dublin c1844 daughter of Augustus & Maria); 1911 census Elizabeth PONTET living as 'aunt' with Marie Eugenie and husband John Francis SWAINE in St Anthony's Rd, Dublin; and died this address 1917, declared by Marie SWAINE nee McWADE-MARANI. Combination of these events and status as 'aunt' suggests 'genetically' as aunt - if Maria Victoria MARANI was in fact her mother (notwithstanding we know her mother's name was 'Mariette')who, as widow, married Augustus MARANI - who was in same profession as Henry PONTET's father, Desire PONTET (professor of French in Dublin), therefore families mixed in same circles and assume well-aquainted. No record of death has yet been found for Mariette FLEURY.
I would also not be surprised if Elizabeth Eugenie nee FLEURY had siblings born in either France or later Dublin.
Would appreciate even any snippets to help further this part of my researches.
