Hello, Linda, By now you have probably received the e-mail I sent to the address you provided. I am posting this response on this Forum as well, for the sake of others who may be researching this family. I am able to answer questions in the second half of your message, but not the first.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a baptismal record for Olivine, although, as you said, it's fairly easy to find those of her siblings baptized at St-Alphonse, Chapeau, Pontiac County, QC. By all indications, Olivine Fleury was born in 1867 or 1868.On the 1871 census for Chichester, Pontiac, QC, she is listed as age 3, (1867 or 1868) along with siblings Amable, age 5 (born 18 Aug 1866, St-Alphonse) and John, age 2, (born 18 Jun 1869, St-Alphonse.
On the 1881 Census for Chichester, Pontiac County, QC, Olivine is listed as age 13, again indicating a birth year of 1867 or 1868.
When Olivine Fleury married James Brennan on 17 Sep 1888 at St-Alphonse, the marriage record states that Olivine was a minor, i.e., under age 21, which again indicates a birth year of 1868 or later.
I reviewed the records of St-Alphonse, Chapeau, page by page from 1866 through 1869 and did not find her.I suppose it's possible that the priest failed to record her baptism.I checked the records of Maskinongé, where Mathilda's parents were living in 1861, without finding a baptismal record for Olivine.
Regarding the parents of Mathilda "Benoit" who married Amable Fleury ... You may have noticed that on the 1871 census for Chichester, Pontiac South, QC, Amable and Mathilda Fleury are living in the same household as John Bellenois and his wife Marie and their children Melina, Marie and Annie.John and Marie are Mathilda's parents. It is true that on the baptismal records of the children of Amable and Mathilde Fleury, Mathilda's maiden name is listed as "Benoit."Actually, her surname is "Bellenois". The marriage record of Amable Fleury and Mathilda "Benois," July 31, 1865, St-Alphonse, states that Mathilda is the daughter of John "Benois" andMarie "Gaulette." <> Jean-Baptiste Lemaitre-Bellenois and Marie Goulet(the daughter of Joseph Goulet and Louise St-Pierre) were married 27 May 1844 at St-Antoine-de-Riviere-du-Loup (Louisville), Maskinongé County, QC.
Marie Mathilde "Belnois" was born 11 Oct 1846 and was baptized the same day at St-Antoine-de-Riviere-du-Loup.
The above-mentioned Jean-Baptiste Lemaitre-Bellenois was the son ofJoseph Lemaitre-Bellenois and Euphrosine Moitard-Lamotte. Said Joseph Lemaitre-Bellenoix was the son of Jean-Baptiste Lemaitre-Bellenoix and Thérèse Lafontaine.
This last-mentioned Jean-Baptiste Lemaitre-Bellenoix was the son of Jean-Baptiste Lemaitre-Bellenoix and Marie-Anne Phafard (or Fafard). You'll find several trees online that trace this family to its origins in France. The line started out as Lemaitre-Auger, then Bellenoix was added in the 1700s.
I'll be sending supporting documents to your email address.
