Re: Looking for book abt. Wm. &Obediah Floyd
I have read the book, "Biographical Genealogies of the VIRGINIA-KENTUCKY FLOYD FAMILIES by N.J. Floyd, and it is extremely useful. However, as in the case of the entries in the book for George Rogers Clark Floyd, son of John Floyd, the information is not accurate. He states that the daughter of GRC Floyd who married a Penn lived in Iowa, near her father.GRC never lived in Iowa, and he died while his daughters were small children. Both daughters lived in Louisville, One, Georgiann Floyd, died shortly after her marriage to William B. Carrell, and the other, Jane Buchanan Floyd, married James C. Penn, divorced him and remarried him, then moved to Louisiana, where she died around 1860.GRC Clark also had a son by his first marriage, John Gabriel Maupin Floyd, who attended West Point but did not graduate. He was settled into Terre Haute, IN by 1838 and supposedly lived there and in Rhode Island. Not much is known about him as he appears to have severed ties with the Floyds after his father's death.
