My family has an odd past which I have trouble following. The BOND side were "never miners" and never married into the local population of Cornwall at least until nearly 1900. This is very weird to trace and I don't know why exactly. They did frequently marry into the FLOYD family and I have one great-great-grandmother (Mary Ann FLOYD BOND) and one great-great-great-grandmother (Jenifer FLOYD BOND) who were both from the FLOYD line. It is so weird that they frequently did not marry in Cornwall, and tracing marriages, except with the FLOYD line are quite difficult. However, I do know that in Cornwall during the 19th century, the parish of Gwinear is full of FLOYDs. Which is confusing enough because they all named their sons innovative names such as John, James and William. Check out Gwinear through the LDS and you may find a connection. There is also an online mailing list for both the FLOYD family and also for Cornwall through rootsweb.com. In the meantime, if you have a son, save the John, James, or William for the middle name. Your great-great-grandchildren will thank you!
Warmest regards,
Elizabeth Marcheschi
