Hello Phil,
Alva Floyd, a g-grandson of Basil Floyd told me that older members of his family thought that John Floyd went to Merdosia Ill. John Floyd's sister Elizabeth Briggs did move to around Merdosia around 1833. She was married to William Briggs. The Briggs family lived near the Floyd family in NC. Also there is a John Floyd who was born in NC in 1815 living next door to William and Elizabeth Floyd Briggs in the 1850 Brown Co. Ill census.
I don't have any evidence that he is a younger brother of our Francis but I sort of think that he is. But according to the wife of Redmon Floyd, she states that Francis Floyd came to Indiana witht the Motsinger family and that both of his parents were dead. I think she would have known about John Floyd being dead as she was the daughter-in-law of Francis Floyd. This was in the information that you sent me some time ago. The possibly that John Floyd died in NC may explain why the younger John Floyd was living next to his Aunt in Ill. I have been looking into this for a long time and so have other members of my Floyd family. But as of yet we can't positively say what happen to John Floyd. Are you familier with any of the Briggs information? Hope to hear from you soon. Tom Alexander in Indiana
