You might be interested in a link I am working on regarding an elusive Floyd who sailed from France to Barbados, then ten years later went to 'Virginia' sometime before 1770. He may have been a child of either of the two David Floyds (father and son) who served King James II in exile, first in France, then Lorraine and finally in Urbino Italy. If this can be proven it may make the link for a lot of Floyds in the SE U.S. If that can be proven I can join them with our Floyds who have a certified pedigree that goes back many hundreds of years in Wales. A possible clue may be that he was probably a devout Roman Catholic at a time when that conviction was not popular in the then British Colonies. That he gravitated to Florida or Louisiana (then Catholic Colonies of France and Spain) is very possible. If there was a small colony of loyal Stuart supporters anywhere in the South that would be where I would look.
