In the past two weeks,a second cousin, once removed has sent me information regarding my second great-grandfather, Thomas Hervey CHRISTIE. He put his lineage down in letter form about 1880. This letter was passed down through his son, Luther Rice Christie, b. 3 Feb 1873.
Thomas Hervey Christie, b. October, 1834 -North Carolina, died 1913 in Newport News, Va and is buried in Bolling, NC with his wife, Martha Henry Barfield, b. 1839, d. 1891 and a son, Thomas Beauregard Christie, b. 1861, d. 1871. They had seven sons, one of which was my Great-grandfather, Edgar Eugene CHRISTIE.
Parents of Thomas Hervey Christie were: Azariah or Zachariah CHRISTIE married 4 Nov 1822 to: Mourning DRAKE
Parents of Azariah CHRISTIE: Thomas Christie/Caty Harvey/Hervey.
Parents of MOURNING DRAKE: TRUSTIE DRAKE & PHOEBE/PHOBE FLOYD! I would say if Mourning Drake was about 20 years old when she married on 4 Nov 1822, her birthdate would be around 1800. Just guessing. Of course, she could have been younger/older...No proof as of yet! My census record finder won't work today!
The letter states the brothers of Mourning DRAKE were: Edward DRAKE, Cordue Drake, and Guilford Drake .
I find it interesting that a "Mourning Floyd" is mentioned in this forum. AND MINE IS MOURNING DRAKE. Could anyone help me fill in the blanks on the parents of Phobe Floyd or Trustie Drake from North Carolina? They would have been born about 1770 to 1780?
I would appreciate any info or input!
