Many thanks for the new information. One other thing to consider is the patronymic system in Wales. One of my ancetral families is Pritchett. From the information I have gleaned, the name is Welsh and started out as ap-Richard, or son of Richard. From that it became Pritchard and some branches of the family evolved into Pritchett. The same could be true for the Welsh Floyd. Ap-Lloyd, depending upon how Ll is pronounced, conceivably could become Floyd. What do you think?
