It's off and running, have first Floyd to take test, descendant of Anderson Floyd. Our hope is to get a good baseline of known Floyd lines to compare against. My particuilar line is William Floyd m Sarah King. I plan, as the results come in, to both post a chart with the results, as well as list, for 2 generations, the family line that is taking the test so that others can see if there if there is a matchup. (I have an example posted on the Floyd DNA page that shows another family line's posted results so you can see an example of this)
Who can take the test? The DNA test goes to a direct line male Floyd, so one's last name must be Floyd. If you are not a Floyd or if you are female, you could find someone who is in your line that is a male Floyd to take the test as your proxy, such as a cousin, brother, etc.
Where's the information on this? http://www.halcyondays.com/Floyd/FloydDNAProject.htmhttp://www.halcyondays.com/Floyd/FloydDNAProject.htmIf you are interested, send me an email with your postal address. Familytreedna will send you the kit along with an invoice-all participants who order through this project get a project discount on the cost. (And you would want to be part of the Floyd project, otherwise there would be no results to compare against).
So, consider this. This is a very interesting way to both establish baseline Floyd lines from those who have known paper trails as well as help out those who are not certain who their Floyds may be, ie, can take the test and see who matches.
