A similar message was posted in 1999. I am posting again in hopes of sparking some new interest or reaching those that are new to Genealogy or never saw the original.
Frederick Floyd was born about 1769. Probably in Virginia or NC. He moved into Horry County about 1785 and would have been about 16 years old. He was a brother or close relative of Francis Lewis, James and Thomas Floyd. There were other Floyds in the area including aSamuel and Austin(Osten). Parents are unknown! Some think Andrew Johnson Floyd of PA. The only proof was a DAR application that listed Francis Lewis and Samuel. Another possibility was Samuel Floyd who died in Horry County about 1800. No idea about Frederick's wife or wives! There was a Sarah Floyd, Widow, about 1820 with children of same names. This would indicate that Frederick Sr died fairly young at about 50.
Children as Follows: 1)Katherine Floyd, born about 1790 married Samuel Garrell(Gerrald),Jr.
2)Samuel Floyd,Abt 1791, moved to MS married Avy Jane Nichols
3)James Floyd, born 1790/1795, moved to MS (no other info)
4)Nancy Ann Floyd, born about 1795 married Patrick Lewis
5)Patience Floyd, born about 1800, married Henry Garrell(Gerrald)
6)Wright Floyd, born about 1802, married Demaris ? My line!! Three oldest boys of Wright and Demaris not identified. A John Roland Floyd is a possibility for one!!
7)Anna Jane Floyd, born about 1805
8)William Everett Floyd, born 1806 married Martha Jane Ware in GA, 1837
9)Hardy Floyd, born 1809 moved to MS. He and wife died in their late 30’s. I have some info on this family.
10)Mary Floyd, born about 1811 (no other info)
11)Frederick Floyd, Jr., born about 1814.Speculation about the date. Nancy Ann had a half-brother named Frederick that was a Ferry Keeper at Gallivants Ferry. According to custom one of the first-born sons should have been named after the Father and some think Frederick’s Frederick was born early 1790’s.
Any info on these families will be appreciated, Especially the parents of Frederick, Sr. and his wife. Mark
