In 1819 in Covington, St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, "Agreeable to an order of the Hon. Jesse R. Joney (?) ....a family meeting to take into consideration the interest of the minor child Robert Son of Jonathon Floyd dec'd to be held in my Office the following...to Wit Mrs. Sidney Floyd........etc."
St. Tammany Parish was formed out of St. Helena in 1810.Covington is located on the Pearl River, near its mouth.Upriver is Marion County, Mississippi and its capitol Columbia. Many early settlers to the Mississippi Territory who entered the "Natchez Country" at Natchez ended up in St. Tammany.Adams County (Natchez) originall streteched from the Mississippi to the Pearl River. Many of those who settled in Adams County, crossed it all the way to the Pearl in present-day Marion County, Mississippi. From there, it was but a short float down to Covington and on to New Orleans.
Q: Does anyone know who Jonathon Floyd and his wife Sidney and their son Robert connect to?
I know of earlier Robert Floyds and many John Floyd, and my G-g-grandfather was William Sidney Floyd, but these two have me stumped at the moment.
