Consider, if you are a male Floyd/Floid (last name Floyd or Floyd), participating in the Floyd DNA Reconstruction Project. The test is a cheek swab test offered at a group price for members of the Floyd project by FamilyTreeDNA and takes about 6 weeks after return to get results back. At that point, your privatized results, by eariest family line, will be put on the website here http://www.halcyondays.com/Floyd/FloydDNAProject.htmhttp://www.halcyondays.com/Floyd/FloydDNAProject.htm so that you can compare your family line with others and either find a clue for a match for your ancestor or at least rule him out as a possibility.
If you're female or your last name is not Floyd, perhaps you can find a male Floyd relative that could take the test as your family line representative. For example, your father, brother, uncle, etc.
This may be just the jumpstart you need in the many ways to check out your Floyd ancestors.
