at http://www.halcyondays.com/Floyd/dnaresults.htmhttp://www.halcyondays.com/Floyd/dnaresults.htm - notice on this that we have 2 very distinct Floyd lines. Would like to have another male Floyd ancestor of both Anderson and Andrew Jackson Floyd (or other South Carolina Floyds) to compare lines with. Waiting on another line's results to come back.
Info on the DNA project, which has as its goal sorting out the various Floyds into branches in order to determine lineage. DNA testing can be another tool in your family searching that, along with good paper trails, can help others identify missing ancestors. How does it work? The DNA test is a cheek swab test (no needles!!!) that is taken by a male Floyd of direct line male support (ie, your last name is Floyd and you are male). After the kit is returned, it takes approximately 6 weeks to get the results back, at which time you both get the results and we put your privatized results on the Floyd project website so that you can visually see how you compare with other lines. If you are a female Floyd or your surname is not Floyd, perhaps you have a male relative, such as brother, cousin, father, etc that could take the test asyour representative
You can read about the cost of the test and how many markers are important to test for at http://www.halcyondays.com/Floyd/FloydDNAProject.htmhttp://www.halcyondays.com/Floyd/FloydDNAProject.htm -The FamilyTreeDNA company offers the test at a reduced price for those who join as part of the project.
Consider joining up! If you have questions or want to join, please email directly rather than to the Floyd list.
