Ellen; Thanks for the follow up. I have been unable to find out in which county in S.C. my great grandfather was born. In the DeKalb county, GA census for 1850, he is listed as living in the same household with Jeptha and Rebecca Booth and their three children. On Nov. 10, 1850 he married Martha Ann White in Atlanta, DeKalb county, GA. Their first child, a daughter, was born in Atlanta in about 1853. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Smithville, Itawomba county, Miss. where their other four children were born. Their childrens names were, in order of their age, starting with the eldest, Sefronia, Kneedham, Sandrus, Ira and Tametia. Kneedham was my grandfather. Ira Milton joined the Confederate Cavalry as a private on May 7, 1862 at age 35. He was killed about Oct. of the same year. His wife and children then moved to Bell county, TX. and lived with his wife's brother and family. Hope that there is a family connection and that we can find it.
