Re: Dolphin FLOYD of GA
I am a descendant of Goodwin Davis Floyd, brother of Dolphin D. Floyd. My cousin and I have been working for some time to prove whether or not Dolphin D. and Dolphin Ward Floyd of the Alamo are related.I believe their parents to be Thomas and Anna Floyd, first of NC.
Monroe County, Georgia U.S. Census of 1830 enumerates Thomas, Dolphin and Goodwin Floyd.Land deeds on record in Monroe County verify that Dolphin purchased 1/2 Lot 47, District 6, and Goodwin D. purchased the other 1/2 of same plot, the allotment of 202-1/2 acres, being divided in half and each having 101-1/4 acres, this property joining that belonging to Davis Smith. This land was purchased from Reanick N. and Polly Jackson and the transaction was dated August 9, 1826.
In 1836 in Monroe County, Georgia, Thomas and Anna Floyd deeded land in the form of a Will to their son, John H. Floyd, stating that he, John H., provide a living for his parents, Thomas and Anna, as long as they should live.
we feel that this is proof that Thomas and Anna Floyd were the parents of Dolphin D. Floyd, Goodwin Davis Floyd and John H. Floyd, who were all in Monroe County, Georgia, with their property adjoining each other in the year 1830.
I would love to correspond with you to exchange information regarding our family.I have quite a bit of information on Goodwin's descendants.
