PAWNEE - William Edgar Floyd, 84, of Pawnee died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at St. John's Hospice.
He was born July 13, 1922, in Pawnee, the son of Gilbert Alexander and Catherine Agnes Gatton Floyd. He married Howardene "Bernie" Caster in 1947 in Springfield.
Mr. Floyd was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was stationed in the Philippines. He was a drill press operator for Sangamo Electric Co. for 26 years. He owned and operated Floyd Real Estate and Insurance Agency for 30 years, retiring as an agent broker.
He was a former member of St. Mary's Church in Pawnee. He was a member of Holy Cross Church in Auburn, Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus Council 6379, serving as treasurer from 1976 to 1994. He also was a member of the 4th Degree Bishop Griffin Assembly 201 and Springfield Elks Lodge 158. He served on the Pawnee School Board for two terms. He was given the distinguished alumni award from Pawnee School District in 2003.
Survivors: wife, Howardene; two daughters, Dr. Candace (husband, Kurt) Lee of Willits, Calif., and Joette (husband, Kenton) Manning of Pawnee; son, William T. (wife, Annee) Floyd of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a great-granddaughter; four stepgreat-granddaughters; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Holy Cross Church, Auburn, the Rev. Kevin Laughery officiating. Burial: Calvary Cemetery.
