I don't know where to begin. I came this web forum in a round about way. I have been posting on the Thompson forum. I think I need to post here instead.
I guess that I am hoping that someone here may have answers to some of my questions.
I am searching for the parents of Eliza Davis of Fluvanna, VA born about 1824 died April 17, 1892 & Berry/Berryman Thompson of Augusta, (most likely Staunton), VA born about 1817 died March 28, 1884.
I have begun to suspect that Eliza Davis's Father or Grandfather was William Davis. One of Eliza & Berry's sons was named William.
I have also begun to suspect that Berry Thompson's Father or more likely, Grandfather was William Thompson.
I have learned that William Thompson married a Mary Patton, daughter of James Patton. James Patton was the brother in-law of John Preston.
Oral family history tells me that one of our kin was with Lewis & Clark. I wasn't a believer until recently because I was looking for a Thompson.
Recent research has led me to Charles Floyd & his relationship to the Pattons & Prestons. I heard the story of the male kin whose appendix burst. Could this man have been Charles Floyd whose appendix did burst & cause the only fatality of the Lewis-Clark Expedition?
So many of the stories my Grandmother told me, I now findare connected to the Pattons, Prestons & Floyds. The Pocahontas connection, the Indian raids and many more.
Berry & Eliza are my brick walls. I have searched for years & I can't get past them.
I have found lots of living kin of Berry & Eliza who also join me in my quest & are equally stumped.
I'm hoping someone here can assist. I'm hoping someone says, "We've been looking for you."
Interesting to note that a William Thompson built a cabin on the bluff near Charles Floyd's grave.
